THAT’S NOT THE WAY I HEARD IT:  A Surreal Cabaret Dramedy Spectacular

MANGO is FINALLY putting together an intimate surreal extravaganza cabaret experience for her closest friends! Part cabaret, part drama, part history, and a full-figured comedic explosion of absurdity, heart and fun. You never knew that laughter and tears mixed so well together. MANGO is a triumph in her breakout role as the sexist woman in the world. Well, at least this is where the show begins, because there are unexpected turns ahead! Written as an examination of the contributions made by women of color in history, this show uses song, dance, sketch, costumes, lighting, props and participation to take the audience on a wild ride that soon becomes too real. One minute we’ll be laughing and cheering as MANGO impersonates the SUPER SISTER OF THE PAST but soon the show spirals into a blinker perspective as our heroine, MANGO, desperately tries to keep things light and jovial but struggles as the overwhelming amount of stories about injustice and suffering weigh her down. By the end of the show MANGO is driven further into the nexus of the human condition than ever. She and her cast members push themselves to find the joke, to find the funny in the bleakness until they go too far.
