Caryl Churchill’s The Skriker
Lily and Josie are two young women at sea in modern-day London: wandering the earth without family or connections, dealing with young motherhood and instability, they are followed by the Skriker, an ancient shape-shifting fairy, and her coterie of underworld friends. Look for such fairyland favorites as the Brownie (a helpful house-elf), Kelpie (a sinister aquatic horse) and Rawheadandbloodybones (you know him), in Caryl Churchill’s dark fairytale, originally devised in 1994 for three actors and a company of dancers, which traces themes of mental illness, environmental degradation, and crumbling social support systems. Presented by the Curious Theatre Branch.
